New Samsung Phone Gallery in other Apps issue

2019.10.25 16:53 Nelajus New Samsung Phone Gallery in other Apps issue

Is this where I can post this? I'm not sure. Please point me in the right direction if I'm not.
But here's the issue I recently bought the new phone and transferred pics from my S6 to S9...however all of my oldest pics are at the top of my gallery while I'm inside apps (Twitter, Facebook etc) while the newest ones are at the bottom...
-I checked the details of the specific pics in my Gallery App and the original dates are correct -If I take a screenshot, or dowload a new picture, it places at the top of my galler (as it should)
So how do I just fix how apps see it and "sort" the gallery that it has access to from oldest to last?

2019.07.20 16:56 artistpen Taking it to the next level and a little nervous

Some background. My husband and I have been following a simple living lifestyle for over 17 years.
During the past two years we have downsized our home and we are living in a mobile home on rented land with a river view in a quite neighborhood on the outskirts of our city. We are about a 35 min bike ride from city center in one direction and 35 min ride to farm land in the other. It is very peaceful here, with just enough community within our neighborhood to keep us happy and socially connected.
We have eliminated many superfluous items such as furniture, books, plants, clothing and kitchen items and are in the process of reducing activities that require us to attend board and planning meetings....ending our committment to two groups at the end of the calendar year. All of which aligns well with our simple living/minimalist lifestyle.
My husband now works from home 50% of the time with us sharing one car. This requires that we bike more places and since the car is a lease, we are more intentional about how often we just take off and drive somewhere. In order to make doing things by bike easier, we have invested in traditional and insulated pannier bags. Going car light has been a blessing and something we wish we had considered doing sooner.
For those who don't know me, I am a pen and ink artist and generally exhibit my work 10 months out of the year. Currently I have work in one museum (one state away), one gallerly (one state away) and one local gallery in my city. September will bring a weekend show in the next town over and Oct-Dec my work will be in a group exhibit at one of the local hospitals.
I am finding that preparing my work (matting and framing, photographing, scanning, updating website etc..) meeting with gallery owners, establishing and maintaining relationships with gallery owners and other artists (involves a bit of travel) doing promotional work for news outlets and social media, and entering juried shows, entering competitions etc.. to be taxing, stressful and it takes time away from the pure enjoyment of creating. I find myself at a point where I now think about what show I need work for and producing work for specific shows, rather than just creating for the sake of creating. The joy of the creative process is being lost in the shuffle of the business of doing art.
In talking with other professional artists, the business of doing art is not something any of them really enjoy. They too find it stressful and time consuming in a way that makes them keep the next exhibit in the front of their minds as they create. So my experience isn't unusual.
That said, the next step I feel I need to take is to remove myself from the active art scene and focus on creating. I will be stepping down from art organization memberships, from working on art commitees, and keeping a full exhibition schedule.
I have two exhibits scheduled already for next year which I am committed to. A two person show in April (next town over) and the September weekend show (next town over). Those will most likely be my only physical exhibits for 2020. I may enter a couple of online exhibits and competitions to keep my name and artwork out there, but the business of those is typically handled by the organization hosting the online exhibit/competition and they do all the promotional work for you. Plus there is no need for matting and framing work, just high quality photo files and an up to date website.
Now to my concern. Being an active gallery artist has been a part of my identity for so long, I am not sure how to deal with the response my stepping back will get from gallery owners, other artists and the art community in general. Has anyone, for the sake of simplifying their lives, stepped back from something that defined who you were? Did you loose your identity or regain it?
P.S. I have no interest in setting up an online store or shop. In talking with other artists who do the same type of work I do, the production of prints is not worth the time, finances and effort. It can years to recover your initial costs and because we work in black and white, there are few printers out there who can produce quality greyscale prints that show the values properly.

New in 2018! Automated "Who Will Win?" Polls!

To cast your vote simply include the name of the team you think will win enclosed by {} as part of your TOP LEVEL comment (i.e. a post reply as opposed to a reply to an existing comment). For example {USC}. You need not create a specific comment just to vote. Simply include your vote in line during your post discussing the match-up or include it at the end of your comment. If another poster manages to change your mind with their detailed points and emphatic discussion simply edit your original comment accordingly. You can change your vote as often as you like until the GAME THREAD is posted. Each user only get's a single vote per match-up, so if you make multiple {Vote} comments the system will record whichever it reads last; if you cast multiple {Votes} in the same comment the system will only consider the first {Vote}.
A full listing of accepted FBS team aliases can be found here.. For FCS teams you will need to use the full name as it appears in the post title.
Rivalrybot will be along shortly to make a comment with the results as well as update the results every couple of minutes and will comment in the eventual game thread with the final results.

2016.02.20 02:15 joeco_and_nattybros Another rant about WTMD...

Someone on /Baltimore suggested I post this here as well:
About a year ago, I wrote an open letter to Steve Yasko, the general manager of WTMD, voicing my distain for the current morning show. I unfortunately never got to send it, as he got fired last August.
I tried to listen to the morning show again today, but had to turn it off in disgust. Dear God, we've fallen so far. I've seen some other rants about the current state of WTMD, but, keeping the conversation fresh, here's my $0.02...
Hello Steve,
My name is Joe C., longtime listener since 2007.
I am writing because I feel the WTMD morning show is faltering under Alex Cortright.
First, let me say, I listened to Alex for years while he was at WRNR. We was the heart and soul of that station. However, I stopped listening to WRNR years ago, for the same reasons that I believe the WTMD morning show is now faltering. Let me explain, and let me be blunt:
When compared to the departed Eric Deatherage, Galler or Sam Gallant, Alex’s setlists are, frankly, old and stale. Not to be mean, but his mixes seem more at home in 2002 than 2015 with his choices of Michael Franti, Nick Lowe and Sublime. His sets do not have the “cutting edge indie” vibe of his predecessors, and the WTMD tagline “Where Baltimore finds new music” does not seem to fit Alex’s music selection. I’m frustrated and struggle in the morning to find new indie rock in his setlists. Instead, I’m pelted with staid sets of Van Morrison, The Cars, The Police, and Steely Dan which I find tiresome. This is the reason I stopped listening to WRNR. Simply put – their music became predictable and boring.
For example, consider his promo spot for “Acoustic Sunrise”. Some of the bands featured are: The Beatles (solid choice, timeless), Ritchie Havens (fine, but honestly doesn’t seem to fit the demographic…a bit too dated)… and… the real thorn in my side… Norah Jones. For all the years I’ve been listening to TMD, Norah Jones has NEVER been a staple at the station. Her breakout was about 10 years ago… someone who I don’t consider iconic… and someone who’s voice is immediately dating.
As listeners flee to internet radio like Pandora and Spotify, where listeners can honestly get a constant stream of hot-off-the-press indie, WTMD is honestly the last hope for a local station which plays new and interesting music. I LOVE the sets by Galler and Sam Gallant, who seem to grasp, embody and empower new and interesting music at WTMD. I wish Alex did too.
Not to be overly dramatic, but let me bare my soul: with regard to the morning show… WTMD, I am disappointed. No, in fact, I’m sad. Please update the morning show playlists. As I’ve said, programming in the afternoon/evening truly represents an embodiment of the slogan “Where Baltimore finds new Music”. Please tell Alex it’s not 2002 anymore. WTMD, I really like you, I really do… no, in fact, WTMD, I love you… and I really want to like your morning show. But, the my colossal disappointment in Alex’s choice of music has, in some ways, hurt me. And I guess it’s true what they say? You can only be hurt by the things/people you love the most?
I appreciate your time.
Thank you, Joe
